ABOUT

MULTIHULL SOLUTIONS

Multihull Solutions Ltd was established in 2005, by experienced multihull sailor Al Wood. Dragonfly CEO Jens Quorning invited him to become the sole UK dealer for Dragonfly trimarans.

Prior to establishing Multihull Solutions, Al was already the proud owner of an original Dragonfly 25. This followed many years of racing and cruising multihulls, including over c.25,000nm in UK waters, transAtlantic and the Mediterranean.

He is a qualified industrial designer with experience of multihull design. He co-designed the innovative, wheel-chair accessible 36ft catamaran Spirit of Scott Bader. He also undertook design work for Dame Ellen MacArthur’s Offshore Challenges and the Volvo Ocean Race.

His first multihull was the legendary Hobie 16. Since then he’s sailed a huge variety of multihulls, including many production and racing boats. Exceeding 40 knots aboard a spectacular 105ft maxi-catamaran remains a highlight. (There’s even been the occasional monohull, including Ellen MacArthur’s famous ‘Kingfisher’ Open 60).

However, Al’s first sail on a racing trimaran was a ‘light-bulb’ moment. The superior handling and performance of the trimaran was immediately evident.

Therefore, when the time came to own a multihull for both family cruising and racing, it had to be a trimaran. Al’s experience of most major brands left only one boat in the running: a Dragonfly.

Becoming a Dragonfly owner led to meeting the previous UK dealer, who later recommended Al to Jens Quorning as his successor. This led to Al establishing Multihull Solutions Ltd in 2005.

Today Multihull Solutions Ltd is one of the longest-serving Dragonfly dealers.  Al sails a Dragonfly 28 with his family, based in the beautiful Chichester Harbour on the south coast.

TESTIMONIALS

Thank you very much for your help and advice with the new boat. I don’t think there are many people in the marina industry who put as much effort as you do into a delivery and hand-over, it is greatly appreciated.

A huge thank you for an amazing taster of Dragonfly sailing. Caroline equally impressed with her helm at 17 knots..!

It was very good to meet you and your excellent team. The commissioning by Al was exemplary, very precise and I could not have done the trip without the test sails and running through everything with him

I bought my first Dragonfly (of 3) in 2007.  The whole experience was a real pleasure, from visiting the yard in Denmark, specifying the build and then taking delivery and the continued expert support give by Al.  He has a deep knowledge of the Dragonfly range and has always delivered far more than expected and always willingly, professionally and with a smile.

Al has always been helpful and encouraging and delivers a wonderful service to his clients.  I can’t think of a better person to buy a boat from.

DRAGONFLY TRIMARANS

Dragonfly trimarans are designed and built in Denmark by Quorning Boats ApS. They are a second-generation, family-owned business, and recognised World leaders in high performance trimarans. During their 55+ year history they have built over 1,000 boats and won many international awards and races.

All parts of a Dragonfly trimaran are designed and built in-house, and many other key suppliers are also local. The skilled workforce of around 50 people produce around 50 trimarans per year. Dragonfly has also been the choice of champions, including Olympic sailing legend Paul Elvstrøm. Paul’s last boat for 10 years was a modified DF 800, and Elvstrøm Sails remain a key partner to this day.
