Dragonfly Sail Guide video – Part one, Upwind
Welcome to our new Dragonfly Sail Guide video series, starting with Upwind trim. Jens Quorning and his son Peter will guide you through all aspects of sailing our high performance trimarans to their full potential.
We start with upwind trim, sailing aboard the Dragonfly 28 Performance. Discover how to set the standard Elvstrøm Sails mainsail and genoa, including tips on how a trimaran differs from conventional yachts.
Firstly, our trimarans have a large, square top mainsail plus a relatively small genoa. Secondly, the trimaran only heels up to about 10 degrees upwind, even in gusts. Instead, it harnesses the energy and accelerates. This is due to the combination of light weight and huge stability of our wide platform.
In short, Jens and Peter will show you the tips and tricks they have learned over many years of cruising and racing their boats.
After that, we’ll bring you the downwind sails. This is when the fun really starts. Therefore, keep an eye out for our next instalments of the Dragonfly Sail Guide.
